Throughput of Mariupol Commercial Seaport (Ukraine) up 13.4% in H1 07, y-o-y
In January-June 2007, Commercial Seaport of Mariupol (Ukraine’s Azov Sea region) handled 8.503 million tonnes of cargo (+13.4%, year-on-year), RZD-Partner reports. Export totaled 6.556 million tonnes (+23.7%, year-on-year). Export of ferrous metal makes 40% of volumes handled in the port. In the sector of loose dry cargo over 20% falls on transshipment of coal.
The port’s transit turnover decreased by 4.4% to 1.769 million tonnes). The share of import and transit was 0.6% and 1.5% of total throughput respectively, while transshipment of coastal trade cargo grew over three-fold, that should be attributed to regional logistics.
