Vinalines to build int’l seaport in central province
The Viet Nam National Shipping Lines (VINALINES) on July 19 received a licence to build an international seaport in the Van Phong economic zone in the central coastal province of Khanh Hoa.
The close to 3 trillion VND (184 million USD) project will be the first to make an appearance in the economic zone.
41.5 ha of submerged land will be turned into an international transit seaport, including two docks for container freights which range from 6,000 TEU to 9,000 TEU.
The new port’s infrastructure, from loading facilities to management systems, will all meet international standards, according to the licence.
VINALINES will enjoy exemption from corporation income taxes for four years after returning profits and a 50 percent cut in tax payment for the following nine years after that year.
The project is expected to begin construction by the first quarter of 2008 and be put into operation by late 2010.
