Pusan Newport gets CSAV shipping line
DP World-operated Pusan Newport Co (PNC) of South Korea has attracted Chile-based CSAV shipping line. The Latin American firm will shift its Andex and Pacar services from Busan Old Port to PNC.
The shipping line will bring a total of approximately 80,000 TEUs per year to the marine terminal. The move is expected to happen in early August.
"CSAV's move to PNC is significant as Pusan Newport builds its reputation as a gateway for north-east Asia. Pusan Newport will be further boosted by the new Hanjin facility, which is scheduled to open at the start of 2009 and bring an additional 1.8 million TEUs (twenty-foot equivalent container units) capacity the hub. This will be followed by Hyundai's new facility which is expected to expand the capacity of the hub by 1.7 million TEUs," DP World said in a statement.
CSAV joins other large shipping services such as United Arab Shipping Company that already call at PNC.
"We are delighted that CSAV has decided to move most of their vessel services to PNC. It is a clear acknowledgement of the excellent service and level of productivity that we have been able to provide our customers," said Patrick Bol, executive managing director of DP World Korea.
