Throughput of Latvian ports up 4.6% in H1 07, y-o-y
In January-June 2007, throughput of Latvian ports totaled 31.38 million tonnes (+4.6%, year-on-year), IA REGNUM reports according to Central Statistics Agency of Latvia. In the reported period, the ports of Latvia dispatched 27.6 million tonnes of cargo (+ 0.6%, year-on-year) including 0.7 million tonnes of crude oil (2.4-fold growth), 10.7 million tonnes of oil products (+1.9%), 2.2 million tonnes of timber materials (-3.6%), 7 million tonnes of coal (-12%). Volume of accepted and unloaded cargo totaled 3.8 million tonnes (1.5 times as much as in January-June 2006) including 0.7 million tonnes of containerized cargo (+28.1%), 0.5 million tonnes of mobile cargo (+16%), 0.6 million tonnes of crude oil (2.2-fold increase), 0.5 million tonnes of construction materials (2-fold growth). Volume of cargo transshipped in the port of Ventspils made 16.1 million tonnes (+10.4%), while that of smaller ports grew by 30.4% to 676.7 thou tonnes. Throughput of the port of Riga fell 2% to 12.6 million tones, Liepaja – decreased by 2.5% to 2 million tonnes.
