New container line service opened in the port of Iljichevsk (Ukraine)
UkrTarnsContainer, operator of a container terminal introduces new procedure for servicing containers in the port of Iljichevsk, RZD-Partner reports. According to UkrTarnsContainer, the schedule based on “fixed windows” principle will be applied for nine lines operating at the terminal, which is to increase its capacity by 10%. New fixed schedule will enable the terminal to raise container transshipment volume to 6,000 units per week with a growth tendency owing to implementation of the terminal development program.
Rejection of the “first come first served” principle ensures smooth operation without downtime. The new principle initiated by UkrTarnsContainer upon approval of the port and customers will make it possible to improve planning, service quality and reliability of operation. According to Anastas Kokkin, Director General of UkrTarnsContainer, such type of service is provided by no ports at the Black Sea.
