Throughput of Yuzhny port (Ukraine) up 3.5% in 2007

In 2007, throughput of Yuzhny port totaled 21.5 million tonnes (+3.5%, year-on-year), the port’s press center reports. In the reported period cargo handling amounted to 14.64 million tonnes (+5.5%, year-on-year). In 2007, the port handled 1,291 vessels and 152,345 wagons.

In December 2007, the port’s throughput totaled 1.8 million tonnes (-6.7%, year-on-year), cargo handling – 1.1 million tonnes (-9.2%). In December the port handled 104 vessels and 13,042 open-top wagons.

Yuzhny port is the largest and most deep-water port complex of Ukraine capable of handling 100,000-dwt vessels. The port specializes on transshipment of liquid chemicals, grain, coal and containers. There are berths for export shipment of bulk and general cargo. Major directions of transportation are the basins of the Black and Mediterranean Seas, Latin America, USA, Middle East, South-East Asia.
