The 2nd phase terminal of Samsung Heavy Industries (Ningbo) has been open to vessels since it passed check and inspection by the authority in December, 2007, Xinhua reports according to RZD-Partner.
The terminal was part of the dock yard expansion project of Samsung Heavy Industries (Ningbo) and it's the only terminal for handling giant vessel parts in Ningbo, the report said.
The new terminal, including two 5,000 tonne berths with quay length of 370 metres, is expected to handle 150,000 tons a year, the report said.
Construction of the terminal, started in September of 2004, was completed in April of 2006 and had handled 88 vessels during its trial operation before it was officially open, the report said.
