India’s JNPT sees throughput up 23to 4m TEUs
Jawaharlal Nehru Port Trust (JNPT), which handles 60 per cent of India’s container cargo, recorded a throughput of over four million TEUs in fiscal 2007-08, 23 per cent up from 3.30 million TEUs a year ago.
The port handled a total 55.76 million tonnes of cargo - 51.84 million tonnes of container cargo, 3.17 million tonnes liquid bulk, 0.74 million tonnes cement and 0.0057 million tonnes general cargo - last fiscal year.
In fiscal 2006-07, JNPT handled 44.81 million tonnes of cargo, registering a 24.42 per cent growth in traffic.
