Construction of port Sabetta as seen by marine engineers

At the 3^rd International Forum of Dredging Companies Fertoing Ltd. held an exhibition of photos mage by its engineers when working at port Sabetta being built on the Yamal peninsula.

Construction of seaport Sabetta is among the most ambitious and large scale projects of modern Russia. The works are being performed within the framework of Yamal LNG project intended for transshipment of crude hydrocarbons of the South Tambey (Tambeyskoye) gas field on the Yamal peninsula.   The new port is to ensure round-the-year navigation of gas carriers along the Northern Sea Route.

Port Sabetta is being built in challenging geological, hydrological and climate conditions far above the Polar Circle. The project is unique with the construction of the entire infrastructure from scratch. The navigation period allowing for dredging and shipping of heavy weight is very short – about 70 days on the average.
