Ship-handling tug Beluga of azimuth type has been launched at Leningrad shipyard Pella. This information has been provided to PortNews IAA at the press service of Ust-Luga Company OJSC. Tug’s capacity is 3200 h.p., value — 130 million rubles. Commissioning of the tug has been scheduled for September 25. Today Pella OJSC builds the other tug of the same type to be put into operation on October 25. With the increase of calls it is planned to acquire tugs of next series with capacity of 1600-1800 h.p., as well as 4000-5000 h.p. in order service the calls of larger vessels. By 2011-2012 it is planned to acquire 6-7 ship-handling tugs of azimuth type. As the press service notes, the company is to put into operation the first phase of inter-port infrastructure this year: communication, energy, water supply and water drainage. Internal fleet is a required element of the port which means that port is an operating one, the press service says. Having put the tugs into operation we come closer to commissioning of the whole Ust-Luga project.
Ust-Luga OJSC has been established for implementation of the project for construction of multipurpose sea trade port Ust-Luga with a complex of commercial and auxiliary facilities. It is planned to build and commission 11 terminals and railway-motor-ferrry complex Ust-Luga - Baltyisk – ports of Germany.
