Hamburg Sud to up capacity from Far East to west coast South America
Hamburg Sud is increasing the capacity of its Far East-west coast South America trade by replacing 2,500-TEU ships with others of 3,600-TEU capacity.
The larger ships are being taken from the Far East to the east coast of South America, which in future will be using 5,500-TEU vessels.
The 3,630-TEU ships will be used on the Asia-WCSA service, the ASPA 2/NAX service, which uses nine ships. The other displaced ships will be used on one of the two FE-WCSA loops that Hamburg Sud operates in partnership with CCNI. CCNI already deploys three 3,091-TEU ships on this loop, AXS-Alphaliner News said.
