Foreign firms in Sea of Okhotsk predatory, shelf borders must be defined- Ivanov
Undefined external borders of the Russian continental shelf in the area of the Sea of Okhotsk seriously damages Russia's economic interests, Russian First Deputy Prime Minister Sergei Ivanov said according to Interfax.
"The issue of defining the external borders of the continental shelf is a most acute one. In the middle of the sea there is a free, one can even say 'grey,' zone with an area of 56,400 square kilometers, in which foreign companies, whose actions cannot be called other than predatory, act. There is lawlessness there, which seriously damages Russia's economic interests," Ivanov said at a meeting of the Russian governmental maritime Board in Moscow on Friday.
