North-West branch of Sberbank of Russia and UK Murmansk transportation join OJSC to co-operate
North-West branch of Sberbank of Russia and UK Murmansk transportation join OJSC signed a cooperation agreement aimed at mutual implementation of infrastructure complex development schedule of the Murmansk transportation join (MTU). As per the information provided by North-West branch of Sberbank of Russia, the document was signed by Alexei Loginov, Chairman of regional unit of bank, and Andrei Shapovaliants, CEO UK MTU.
In 2010 – 2015 it is planned to construct a sea hub operating year-round – center of containerized, oil loaded cargoes handling, coal and mineral fertilizers transhipment integrated into international transportation corridor ‘North-South’. The implementation of the project will take place due to Sberbank of Russia financial support.
As a result of the aforementioned project implementation reconstruction of operating objects and construction of new port infrastructure objects (with overall cargo capacity of 70 mln tons annually) will be carried out. Here belongs railway and motor infrastructure, including facilities on the western coast of Kola Bay, regional transportation-logistic system establishment and its integration into the system of international transportation corridor ‘North-South’ as well as creation of system of regional transportation market units coordination at the transportation joint.

North-West branch of Sberbank of Russia operates in the territory of 7 RF constituent entities – St.-Petersburg, Leningrad, Kaliningrad, Murmansk, Pskovsk, Novgorod regions as well as the Republic of Karelia.
UK Murmansk transportation join OJSC was established under the decision of the State Council of Russia that took place on May 2, 2007 in Murmansk for implementation of ‘Complex development schedule of ‘Murmansk transportation join (MTU)’. Charter capital of UK MTU amounts to RUR250 mln and was divided into 250 thousand of general registered shares of nominal value RUR1000 each. Murmansk Commercial Seaport holds 40% от of charter capital of the company, Rosneft - 15%, Russian Railways - 25%, Murmansk region administration – 5%, FGUP Rosmorport - 15%.
General scheme of Murmansk transportation joint development and estimated cargo turnover till 2015 were approved in the amount of about 80 mln tons annually which will enable Murmansk enter the list of world’s largest ports. Investment into the project will amount to not less than $12 bln. The project implementation will be carried out on the basis of private-public partnership.
