Transneft to create port of 100 mln-ton capacity in Novorossiysk
Transneft AC plans to create a port of 100 mln tons of annual oil transhipment capacity on the basis of Yuzhnaya Ozerevka port (Novorossiys, Krasnodarskiy kray) of the Caspian Pipeline Consortium (CPC). The aforementioned project is related to the plans of CPC development to 67 mln tons and will be implementable in case of transfer of 37 mln tons from Sheskharis port.
‘CPC development will qualitatively change the situation – we shall have a super port, due to which we will profit in weather, time aspect and customs clearance,’ Uga.ru quoted Igor Demin, Transneft’s press-secretary.
As per him, CPC enables us loading a tanker under any weather conditions. In addition to that an issue on special customs clearance currently taking much time may be solved for this object.
CPC owns Tengiz – Novorossiysk oil pipeline (1,580 km long), linking fields in west Kazakhstan with Russian coast of the Black Sea. In 2008 the volume of oil pumped via CPC amounted to 31.47 mln tons. Investments into CPC development are estimated $4.5 bln.
