President Medvedev announces a fivefold reduction of Russian strategic enterprises
According to the new presidential decree the number of Russian strategic companies will be reduced from 208 to 41 enterprises, or a fivefold cut, PortNews IAA correspondent reports referring to the President Dmitry Medvedev’s statement today at the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum. According to the document, the number of federal state unitary enterprises will be reduced from 230 to 159 units.
Earlier, Director of the Department of Property Relations of the Ministry of Economic Development Alexei Uvarov had reported that the govt. would get rid of those assets where the state share is much below of a controlling stake, the enterprises that had lost their strategic importance and the bankrupt companies.
Transport infrastructure facilities were expected to be excluded from the list of strategic enterprises, such as the Novorossiysk commercial seaport and the Murmansk seaport, as well as other assets. Sovcomflot will also be excluded from the list, the report said.
