Onega Shipyard launches a 4.000dwt bulker
Onega Shipyard (Karelia) launched the Ivan Kudryavtsev multi-purpose dry cargo and container carrier (DCV33 project) with deadweight of 4500DWT, Marine Engineering Bureau press release said.
The motor ship was built to Germanischer Lloyd class: Hull: 100 A5 E2, G, DBC, SOLAS II-2, Reg.19, Multi Purpose Dry Cargo Ship, Equipped for Carriage of Containers; Machinery: MC E2 AUT.
The dry cargo ship belongs to a class of European coasters that meet the commercial and ports requirements adopted for freight traffic between the ports of the European Union. The ship’s LOA is 85 m, with a gross tonnage of up to 3,000 tons, with a cargo hold.
Unlike other coaster designed by Marine Engineering Bureau (draft 003RSD04, type “Caspian Express"), the DCV33 project vessel has unlimited navigation area and was not designed to operate on inland waterways.
The ship will be carrying general and bulk cargo, including 20 and 40-foot ISO containers up to 9 feet, metal, grain, timber, coal, oversized and overweight cargo, dangerous goods of Class 1.4S, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6.1, 8, 9.
The EMI PROUD series lead ship was keel-laid on Sept. 28, 2007 and launched on June 6th, 2008. She was put into operation on November 26th, 2008. Construction of the Karelia series’ fifth ship started on June 30, 2009. The launching ceremony was held on June 8, 2010. The sixth ship of the series is being currently built.
