Spanish shipyard delivers sixth patrol boat to Venezuela
Spanish shipbuilder Navantia has delivered Yekuana PC-23, an ocean-going offshore patrol boat to monitor the exclusive economic zone (AB), to the Venezuelan Navy. It represents both for the Spanish company and for the Venezuelan ambassador a symbol "of cooperation between the two countries," Efe reported.
The Yekuana boat is the third of the four patrol boats that Venezuela will use for surveillance and protection of territorial waters.
Venezuelan Ambassador Bernardo Álvarez said at Puerto Real shipyard, in Cádiz, (Spain), that "in these 100 meters of steel and technology, we can witness a real cooperation process. In this process there is a convergence of interests and needs of Spain and Venezuela."
Álvarez referred to the imminent change of government in Spain and said that as it has occurred with Portugal or Colombia "we will continue to maintain these relations of cooperation."
