Cargo turnover of Odessa Sea Trade Port (Ukraine) grew over eight months of 2006 by 0.4% to 18.9 million tons
According to the information provided by Odessa Sea Trade Port (Ukraine), volume of cargo transshipment over eight months of the current year amounted to 18.897 million tons (+0.4% as compared with year-on-year result). This information has been provided RZhD-Partner. Cargo turnover of August amounted to 2.756 million tons (+46.3% or +872.8 thou tons against August 2005). Volume recovery resulted from the growth of dry bulk cargo transshipment, which reached 9.831 million tons over 8 months (+6.8% or +622.2 thou tons against similar period of the previous year). There was also noted sharp transshipment increase of dry cargo import (+41% to 1.911 million tons) and transit (+8.8% to 1.993 million tons), while dry cargo export decreased by 1.7% to 5.9 million tons). Within dry cargo sector the leaders were high-tariff cargoes – ferrous metals (4.63 million tons, +0.8%) and containers (2.284 million tons, +29.2%). The leading types of cargo as regards growth dynamics are refrigerator cargoes (citrus, bananas) - +85.1% to 147 thou tons). At the same time transshipment of raw sugar decreased by 42% to 424.6 thou tons), ore cargo – by 1.2% to 500.9 thou tons). Share of liquid bulk cargo transshipment over 8 months decreased by 5.7% (last year decrease was - 22.4%), amounting to 9.065 million tons. Volume of oil transshipment amounted to 8.626 million tons (-5.9%), the share of crude oil is 5.946 million tons (+6.2%; last year dynamics: -23.7%). The share of oil products - 2.679 million tons (-24.9%; a year before: -24.4%), liquefied gas – 297.9 thou tons (+29.8% and -13.4% correspondingly), technical oils – 48.7 thou tons (-14.9% and 22-fold growth). Transshipment of edible oil (tropical oil fractions) amounted to 92.3 thou tons (-41.9% and +146% correspondingly).
