    Waterfront Shipping планирует ввести в строй шесть судов с многотопливными двигателями в 2016 году

    Waterfront Shipping Company Ltd., дочерняя компания канадской корпорации Methanex, заключила соглашение с Mitsui O.S.K. Lines, Ltd. (MOL), Westfal-Larsen & Co A/S (WL) и Marinvest/Skagerack Invest о строительстве шести новых судов и их последующем фрахте (с опционом еще на три судна), говорится в сообщении компании. Поставка судов запланирована на 2016 год.

    Суда дедвейтом 50 тыс. тонн будут иметь двигатели серии MAN ME- LGI, работающие на нескольких видах топлива, включая метанол, мазут, дизельное топливо или газойль.

    Отмечается, что из-за возросшего спроса на экологически чистое топливо для судов, а также жестких природоохранных норм, вступающих в силу в Северной Европе и других регионах, метанол становится перспективным альтернативным топливом для судов.

    «Мы намерены продолжать инвестировать в судовое топливо, основанное на метаноле. Метанол является топливом чистым от серы, что дает много преимуществ. С ростом цен на топливо и вступающими в силу требованиями к морским перевозками, требующие применения более чистого судового топлива, метанол становится перспективной альтернативой, которая позволит сократить выбросы и расходы на топливо», - заявил президент Waterfront Shipping Ион Хогнестад.

    Зафрахтованные суда заменят устаревшие суда Waterfront Shipping и будут обеспечивать стратегию роста корпорации Methanex. С этой целью корпорация перевела два завода по производству метанола из Чили в г. Гейсмар (шт. Луизиана, США)

    Владельцами шести судов, которые будут построены на верфях Hyundai Mipo Dockyard and Minaminippon Shipbuilding Co., Ltd. станут три инвестора: MOL, Marinvest / Skagerrak Invest и WL (каждый получит по два судна и еще по одному при подтверждении опциона).

    Waterfront Shipping управляет одним из крупнейших флотов океанских танкеров по перевозке метанола, 18 танкеров дедвейтом от 3 тыс. До 49 тыс. тонн. Компания поставляет груз на рынки в Северной Америке, Азии, Европе и Латинской Америке.

    Methanex Corporation, головной офис которой расположен в  Ванкувере (Канада), является крупнейшим в мире поставщиком метанола на крупные международные рынки.
