Russian Maritime Register of Shipping and Maritime Administrations of Finland sign new agreement
A new agreement is signed on the delegation of authority to Russian Maritime Register of Shipping (RS) to hold statutory surveys on board ships flying the flag of Finland and issue certificates of compliance with applicable international and national requirements, RS says in its press release. In accordance with the document, the list of international instruments delegated to RS has been supplemented by the International Energy Efficiency
Certificate. The RS office in Finland was established in 1945. Since that time, cooperation with RS offers the local maritime community an advantage of the RS experience and quality services.
Maritime Administrations (MA) conclude agreements on survey and certification with RS on the basis of the provisions of IMO Resolutions А.739(18) ‘Guidelines for the Authorization of Organizations Acting on Behalf of the Administration’ and А.789(19) ‘Specifications on the Survey and Certification Functions of Recognized Organizations Acting on Behalf of Administrations’.
Delegation of authority to RS by a maritime administration is a confirmation of the high estimate of RS activities and a demonstration of confidence on the part of flag states entrusting RS with survey and issuing relevant certificates on behalf of the MA. Nowadays, RS is cooperating with the maritime administrations of 70 flag states. The main aim of this cooperation is to enhance maritime safety standards, observe all applicable international requirements during construction and operation of ships and offshore structures as well as ensure the efficiency and environmental safety of maritime transport.
