PSC inspectors detain Filia Faith (bulk carrier registered in Panama) at port Saint-Petersburg
Inspectors of Port State Control (PSC) have detained the Filia Faith (bulk carrier registered in Panama). According to the press center of Seafarers' Union of Russia, the vessel was not allowed to leave the port of St. Petersburg because of the violations related to the technical state of the Filia Faith as well as violation of Standard А.5.2.1 of the Maritime Labor Convention of 2006. The vessel can’t leave the port until all the problems are solved.
The first inspection was held in early March by the Seafarers' Union of Russia and the International Transport Workers' Federation. According to the inspection, there is no collective labour agreement at the ship, seafarers’ working and living conditions do not meet MLC requirements while it is not safe to stay onboard Filia Faith due to certain technical deficiencies. The Greek ship owner was ordered to rectify deficiencies before the vessel leaves the port. The re-inspection of PSC held on March 27 revealed the same deficiencies. Some repairs have been carried out by the crew while the problems could be only solved at the ship repair yard.
