Agility opens Malaysian hub
Logistics provider Agility opened a 139,900-square-foot logistics hub near Kuala Lumpur, the capital of Malaysia. The facility boosts Agility's total warehousing capacity in Malaysia to more than 366,000 square feet.
The facility has 12 loading docks and 14,000 pallet positions and dedicated areas for pick and pack, kitting to line operations, consolidation and deconsolidation, cross docking, RMA programs, and reverse logistics. The office at the hub will be the new headquarters for Agility in Malaysia. Target industries for the facility will be apparel, chemicals, engineering and industrial equipment and telecommunications.
The hub is in the central Klang Valley close to the country’s major highway network and 45 minutes from North Port, Westport and Kuala Lumpur International Airport. Nearly 40 percent of the facility will be used as a bonded area, with the rest for general cargo.
"Agility is committed to building its logistics network across Southeast Asia and the opening of our new facility in Malaysia demonstrates our commitment to supporting our customers through improved services and facilities," said Wolfgang Hollermann, Agility’s chief executive, Asia Pacific. "We now have a network of modern logistics facilities throughout Malaysia in order to meet growing demand from our customers for a comprehensive range of logistics services and value-added services," said Mykell Lee, Agility's CEO, Singapore/Malaysia.
The new facility also meets the latest environmental standards, Agility said. For example, material-handling equipment is either electrically or LPG-powered, minimizing the use of diesel-powered equipment. The warehouse roof deploys strategically placed skylights to maximize the use of natural light and minimize power requirements.
