China's cargo throughput up 12.9% in July
China's cargo throughput at main ports amounted to 500 million tons in July, reflecting a year-on-year growth of 12.9%, the Ministry of Transport said.
In July, domestic trade cargo throughput rose 12.5% compared with a year ago to 310 million tons, while foreign trade cargo throughput was up 13.8% and reached 190 million tons.
Container throughput reached 10.1 million TEUs in July, down 3.8% compared with a year ago. The decline rate was 6.4 percentage points less than in June.
China's main ports discharged 56.5 million tons of iron in July and 297 million ton in the first half of this year, up 35% and 29.3% year on year, respectively.
Imported crude oil discharged at China's main ports rose 25.9% to 16.27 million tons in July, while coal discharged at China's main ports increased 12.6% to 48 million tons.
