Unifeeder starts Rotterdam-Norway service
Unifeeder started a new Rotterdam-Norway service. Two vessels of approximately 800 TEU make a weekly call at Fredrikstad, Larvik, Moss and Brevik, Twice-weekly, Oslo and Kristiansand are served.
A commercial manager of the feeder company, Erik Petersen, motivates the start as a respond to the desire of customers to shift their transshipment from other ports to Rotterdam. His vessels not only call at the ECT Delta Terminals and RST (intra-European cargo) but at the Euromax Terminal as well. Therefore it is probable that members of the CKYH Alliance are involved in some way.
Besides Unifeeder, another large feeder specialist on northern Europe, Team Lines, is calling at Rotterdam more frequently as well.
On Norway, the shift is smaller as compared to the Baltic, considering Rotterdam’s traditionally strong position in this trade with an annual throughput of some 122,000 TEU. The sailing distance Rotterdam-Norway is favorable (saves money and time), Rotterdam is a frequent first port of call for the Asia-services (saves time), accommodates much intra-European cargo (more combinations possible) and has a moderate tariff development.
