O.W. Bunker launches physical operations in Lubeck
O.W. Bunker said on Monday that it had started physical supply operations in Lübeck and Lübeck-Travemünde in Germany.
Operations will be serviced through the group's subsidiary, Wrist Bunker Supply GmbH.
“Providing physical supplies in Lübeck and Lübeck-Travemünde significantly strengthens our position within the Baltic region, where we have been one of the leading operators for many years,” said Götz Lehsten, Vice President, O.W. Bunker.
“Despite the economic downturn, we remain committed to a controlled expansion and investment strategy that enables the company to maintain its ambitious growth plans and objectives.”
Product will be delivered using the company’s 1,200 deadweight tonne (dwt) barge DT 83. The barge has a pumping capacity of 350 metric tonnes per hour.
Monday’s announcement said Wrist Bunker Supply would deliver a full range of intermediate fuel oil (IFO), including product with sulphur content of 1% and 1.5%. It will also supply marine diesel oil (MDO) and marine gas oil (MGO).
Wrist Bunker Supply has signed a long-term contract with the local tank terminal, Bunkerstation Hillenberg, in what the supplier said was a move to ensure “reliable and continuous product availability for customers.”
O.W. Bunker and its subsidiaries have a long-standing presence in Germany, providing bunkers in Hamburg, the river Elbe up to Cuxhaven, Kiel, and along the Weser River. It also supplies in Wilhelmshaven and Emden.
Monday’s announcement follows the company’s recent decision to begin physical supplies in the Swedish port of Gothenburg.
O.W. Bunker is one of the world’s leading suppliers and traders of marine fuel.
