Tanker runs aground on Khabarovsk territory, no leak
A tanker carrying 200 tonnes of crude ran aground in the Kukhtui River estuary near Okhotsk, in northern areas of the Khabarovsk territory, on Sunday, a source at the regional emergency situations department told Itar-Tass.
The accident occurred at midday, local time (5:00 a.m. Moscow time). No leak happened.
That was the second tanker accident in the Kukhtui estuary this August. Another tanker with 550 tonnes of diesel fuel onboard ran aground in the same place on August 3. It is hard to sail in that area, and crews trying to do without a navigator often fail.
