Donrechflot dry cargo carrier goes to her maiden voyage after modernization
On August 23, the Korall dry cargo carrier of Volgo-Don type, project 1565, went to her maiden voyage after modernization, press center of the designer, Marine Engineering Bureau, reports. Upon modernization the vessel was classified as КМ L4 R2-RSN of the Russian Maritime Registry of Shipping.
The modernization was carried out in Izmail by Dunaisudoservis. It was the yard’s first experience of this type. The vessel’s ship owner Donrechflot is a part of Azov-and-Don Shipping Company.
The conversion increased the hull’s strength by 112% and the capacity of the holds according to the International Convention on Load Lines. The vessel’s conventional deadweight was raised from 4,350 t to 5,490 t (26%), capacity of cargo holds – from 6,441 m³ to 9,292 m³ (44.1%).
The vessel is a double-screw cargo carrier with 4 cargo holds, double bottom and double sides.
It is designed for transportation of coal, general, bulk, timber, grain, large-size and hazardous cargo.
