Throughput of all industries to go up from Q2 of 2010 – Vitali Yuzhilin
In the second quarter of 2010, the economic will completely recover from the crisis and cargo turnover in all industries will start going up, Vitali Yuzhilin, BoD Chairman of the Association of Sea Commercial Ports (ASOP) told journalists after the ASOP BoD visiting session in Vladivostok.
According to him, in the first quarter of 2009 Russian ports demonstrated quite good economic results, Data information agency reports. Throughput of the ports increased by over 7%, year-on-year, mainly due to higher transshipment of oil products and coal while transshipment of containers slightly fell. Vitali Yuzhilin also noted that all the ports are profitable in Russia today.
“We think in the second quarter of 2010, the economic will completely recover from the crisis and cargo turnover in all industries will start going up,” Yuzhilin concluded.
The visiting session of the ASOP Board of Directors is being held in Vladivostok on August 27-28. The participants are ASOP members – heads of Russian stevedoring companies, representatives of state authorities. RF Transport Minister Igor Levitin also spoke at the meeting.
