NS Africa tanker built in Korea for Novoship to start sea trials Sept. 1
Aframax product carrying tanker NS Africa, the last in the series of four vessels built by Hyundai Heavy Industries Co., Ltd to the order Novoship OJSC (Sovcomflot Group), will start sea trials on September 1, 2009. According to the shipping company’s corporate newspaper Morskoi Vestnik, NS Africa is to be put into operation on September 21, of the current year.
The Group’s current backlog of orders numbers 24 vessels with total deadweight of 2.1 million tonnes. The average age of the Group’s tanker fleet is 6.3 years (against the world’s average age of 12 years).
