Captain of Japanese boat Kisshin maru 31 is sentenced to fine and confiscation of the vessel

Judicial inquiry as regards the case of Sakasita Noboru, the captain of the Japanese fishing schooner Kisshin Maru 31, has finalized in Yuzhno-Kurilsk District Court, newsru.com reports with reference to Interfax. According to Igor Dobrovolskij, senior aide to the prosecutor of Yuzhno-Kurilsk District prosecutor’s office, the Court’s judgment is to impose fine to 250 thou rubles for illegal crossing of Russian border and poaching and almost 246 thou rubles as a compensation of damage to bio-resources of Russia, as well as to confiscate the vessel. After the fine is paid Sakasita Noboru is to be let home. 

Japanese boat Kisshin maru 31 was detained on August 16 in Russian territorial waters near Tanfiliev Island (Smaller Kuril Archipelago). Then it was escorted to the port of Yuzhno-Kurilsk.
