Volume of oil pumped via Ukraine over eight months of 2006 grew by 4% to 22.1 million tons
According to information provided by Ukrtransnafta OJSC (operator of Ukrainian oil transportation system and Yuzhnyi Sea Oil Terminal (SOT), volume of Russian oil pumped via Ukraine over eight months of 2006 amounted to 22.101 million tons (+4% or +778 thou tons against similar period of the previous year). The background of this result is general decrease of oil pumped by the pipeline by -7% (owing to decrease of the share of oil pumped to Ukraine refineries). In August oil transit amounted to 3.172 million tons (+28% against August 2005). Prevailing share of transit volume was carried out by the branch of Druzhba Main Pipeline. The pipeline is aimed at pumping of Russian oil to the Western Europe countries in the direction of Western Ukraine refineries and Yuzhnyi SOT (reverse way). Total transit over 8 months amounted to 14.329 million tons (-3% against similar period of the previous year). August decrease was 8% as compared with similar period of the 2005, to 1.821 million tons. Transit of Pridneprovskije Main Pipelines over 8 months amounted to 7.773 million tons (+17% against eight months of the previous year). In August – 1.351 million tons (2.7 – fold growth against August 2005). The branch is focused at pumping oil from Russia (as well as Kazakhstan) to Eastern Ukraine refineries and at transportation of Russian oil for shipping via Yuzhnyi SOT (obverse).
