Sisu Auto of Finland tries entering the Russian logistic market for the second time

Sisu Auto, the oldest Finnish motor transportation concern makes the second attempt to enter the Russian market. As Ville Keinianen, director on export to Russia of Sisu Auto Oy told the PortNews IAA, the first attempt of entering the Russian market was undertaken by the company in 1996. However until quite recently the activity of the Finnish concern in Russia was not successful, as only 10 cars were sold to Russia in 2005. Moreover, all customers had to find the company themselves. In 2005 Sisu Auto decided to intensify the activity of a concern in Russia. Therefore, the first dealer company was established in St.-Petersburg on this purpose. "Besides Petersburg, we are interested in Moscow, Nizhni Novgorod and Siberia, - Ville Keinianen says. - We do not have a purpose to embrace all Russia. Thus we aspire to render quality service and to expand the opportunities of our clients, including applying various leasing schemes". Company management consider pulp and paper mill and road-municipal services to be prospective buyers of Sisu Auto lorries.
Sisu Auto takes the third place after Volvo Trucks and Scania in the Finnish market’s segment of heavy lorries with full weight of 16 tons and above. Company owns about 20 markets. Sisu Auto has 30 % share in the market’s segment of timber carrying vessels, more than 50 % share in segment of tip lorries and 45.7 % share in a segment of 4 and 5 axle lorries with full weight over 26 tons. Also the company manufactures special equipment for armed forces. In the current year the company concluded a contract on delivery of cars for the Lithuanian army, with total cost of 30 million euro, 10 million euro from which is an option.
Sisu Auto belongs to Soumen Autoteollisuus Oy, which belongs to management of Sisu Auto and group of the Finnish businessmen engaged in sphere of transport, and also to JYKI Company, which put trail-type transport on the market. Annual turnover of Sisu Auto totals more than 140 million euro. Approximately 500 lorries are assembled each year at a factory in Karja.
