Re-certification audit of Russian Maritime Register of Shipping is successfully completed
According to the results of the audit conducted in 2015, compliance of the quality management system of Russian Maritime Register of Shipping (RS QMS) with ISO 9001:2008 and IACS QSCS requirements has been confirmed. A decision was taken to issue the Certificate of Registration to the RS QMS, which is valid till 6 September 2018.
Confirmed compliance of the classification society quality management system with IACS QSCS (Quality System Certification Scheme) is one of the conditions of membership in the International Association of Classification Societies (IACS).
IACS QSCS is based on the ISO 9001 standard and specific requirements supplementing those of the standard itself, as applied to classification societies. Unified requirements, unified interpretations, procedural requirements and recommendations refer to the IACS specific requirements. Procedural requirements regulate various aspects of the activity of classification societies: transfer of ship's class, assignment, suspension and withdrawal of class, procedures for personnel training, as well as for ISM and ISPS Code audits, etc. Unified requirements establish technical requirements to be introduced in the rules of classification societies - IACS members and fulfilled on board the ships classed by them. Unified interpretations uniformly interpret statutory requirements.
Audits for compliance with all the above requirements are carried out by the auditors of the IACS-recognized independent accredited certification bodies (there are six of them at present, and SAI Global is among them). Certification procedure includes a three-year certification cycle with one re-certification audit resulting in issuance of Certificate of Registration for compliance with ISO 9001:2008 and IACS QSCS Statement of Compliance, as well as with annual surveillance audits. On the ground of recognition of the audits performed by independent accredited certification bodies, QACE (Entity for the Quality Assessment and Certification of Organizations Recognised by the European Union) issues the Certificate of Compliance to organizations recognized by EU.
Within the RS re-certification audit, 13 individual audits in different RS Branch Offices were carried out by SAI Global in 2015.
Thus, successful completion of SAI Global re-certification audit is the recognition of high quality of the services provided by RS, as well as the confirmation of RS compliance with the golden standard of the international maritime industry.
