Cargo turnover of Ilichevsk Sea Trade Port (Ukraine) grew by 3.4% over January-August 2006 to 9.9 million tons
According to the management of Ilichevsk Sea Trade Port (Ukraine), the company’s cargo turnover amounted in January-August 2006 to 9.884 million tons (+3.4% or +332 thou tons against year-on-year results). This information has been provided by RZhD-Partner. In August the port’s berths handled 1.516 million tons of cargo (+30.1% against August 2005). This growth resulted from increased transshipment of transit cargo (+37.1% to 1.138 million tons) and export (+0.3% to 5.988 million tons) with import decreased by 4.2% to 2.333 million tons). Over 89% of the port’s total cargo turnover falls on dry cargo amounting to 8.893 million tons (+1.4% against 8 months of the previous year). Within this type of cargo growth of bulk cargo transshipment grew by +13.7% to 3.52 million tons with continued decrease general cargo transshipment (-5.3% to 5.373 million tons).
The share metal cargo transshipped at the port decreased this year to 2.644 million tons (-20.5%; year-on-year dynamics - -29%). The result is mainly explained by transfer of export metal cargo to the ports of the Sea of Azov (cargo generating region) because growth of Ukrzaliznitsa’s tariff rates. Volume of container cargo handled at the port amounted to 1.339 million tons (+13.2%; year-on-year result - +35.7%). At the same time, grain cargo growth rates have decreased by (+8.2% to 1.087 million tons; year-on-year dynamics - +92.5%), ore: +5% to 1.74 million tons and 41% correspondingly), sulfur: +12.4% to 434 thou tons - +43%. Transit coal cargo (new cargo type for the port) amounted to 224 thou tons.
The port handled 991 thou tons of liquid bulk cargo over 8 months (+26.2%; year-on-year dynamics - +13%). The range of liquid bulk cargo included food oils (733 thou tons, +434 thou tons against January-August of 2005), gas condensate (40 thou tons, -9 thou tons correspondingly), oil (210 thou tons, -224 thou tons).
