The project of a marine terminal for handling cruise ships, Ro-Ro and passenger ferries at the seaport of Kaliningrad, near Pionersky town has been been approved at the public hearings held on April 4-5 May, Rosmorport said.
Based upon a review of the project assessment documents, including EIA of the terminal project the approval was received in the course of public discussions: in the form of an opinion poll conducted in Pionersky town district where locals filled out questionnaires, and in the form of public hearings in Zelenograd City District.
The project documents and EIA were available in public places for the local community.
The results of the poll in Pionersky county were announced on May 4, 2016 and of open public hearings in Zelenograd city district – on May 5, 2016.
Representatives of the General Designer (Marine Construction & Technology LLC, St. Petersburg), developer of environmental sections of the project documentation (International Ecological Fund "Clean Seas", Moscow) and representatives of the FSUE Rosmorport were involved in the public discussions.
The survey and public hearings in Pionersky and Zelenograd urban districts are declared valid. Residents of these counties and the public as a whole approved the construction of a marine Ro-Ro and passenger terminal in the seaport of Kaliningrad provided their comments and suggestions will be included in the final project documentation.
The project will be implemented in the framework of the Federal Program "Development of Transport System of Russia (2010-2020)." The International Marine Terminal for cruise ships, Ro-Ro / passenger ferries will be built at the site of the border crossing post in the seaport of Kaliningrad, near Pionersky town, Kaliningrad region.
The facility design documentation will be finalized in 2016. The terminal completion and commissioning is planned for the period before June 1, 2018.
The State Customer of this project is the Federal Agency of Maritime and River Transport, the Developer - FSUE Rosmorport.
