Signing of cooperation agreement between ports of Kiel and Ust-Luga slated for Sept. 22
Memorandum on Cooperation between the German Port of Kiel and Russian Port of Ust-Luga is scheduled to be signed on September 22, 2016 in St. Petersburg, PUL Trans company said in a press release.
In the run up to the signing ceremony the German and Russian partners on August 24 held a preliminary meeting.
The purpose of the meeting is approval of the specific terms of cooperation and interaction between the agents of the new logistics service for the delivery of goods between Russia and Germany. The meeting was attended by representatives of CIS-Cargo GmbH, JSC PUL Trans and DFDS Seaways Ltd.
This service is expected to ensure more freight volumes both for DFDS ferry line, and the ports of Kiel and Ust-Luga. General Director of JSC PUL Trans
Igor Yevstafiev said the customer of new service will enjoy guaranteed goods delivery time, one of the basic requirements of cargo owners, shippers.
JSC PUL Trans is rail shunting operator at the seaport of Ust-Luga, Leningrad region, providing a full range of rail services using rail tracks at the port. PUL Trans was created in 2007. Majore shareholders are the following: RZD (50%) RVM Capital (25%), TRANSOIL (25%).
Private company CIS-Cargo GmbH is an international freight forwarder specializing in rail transportation of goods between the EU and the CIS countries.
DFDS, a Copenhagen-based Danish shipping company is one of the world's largest ferry and logistics operators. In 2011 the company added Ust-Luga to its Ro-Ro ferry line's rotation. The Company employs 6,000 people.
