The operations on delivery and unloading of large-size equipment for ZapSibNeftekhim have been completed in the navigation period of 2017. According to the press center of SIBUR’s Tobolsk division, in the navigation period of 2017, industrial port of Tobolsk handled 305 units of large-size equipment intended for ZapSibNeftekhim project.

More than 260 units have been installed including four 360-tonne boilers, 66-meter-high washing and rectification columns weighting about 150 tonnes, 87-meter butene columns, extruders and columns for a polyethylene plant.

“For optimization of deliveries and loading of sea-going ships and river-going barges, part of the equipment was consolidated at the storage facilities of the ports of Antwerp and Szczecin. Other equipment was delivered directly from the manufacturers’ facilities in Europe and the Southeast Asia. Cargo transportation to the transshipment points on the Northern Sea Route, Sabetta and Novy Port, was performed from late June to late August by two routes – via the Suez Canal and the Kara Gates or via the Bering Strait. The equipment was then reloaded onto dedicated barges intended for transportation of heavy weight along the Ob and Irtysh rivers to the port of Tobolsk. River transportation and unloading at the port were completed on 13 September 2017”, says Svetlana Ivashchenko, Deputy Director General, Head of the Inventory and Logistics Department at ZapSibNeftekhim.

Yamal LNG LLC provided assistance in clearance and reloading of equipment at port Sabetta.

In 2016, large-size equipment (60,000 t) was also delivered along the Northern Sea Route via the Suez Canal fromt the ports of S. Korea, Japan, Italy and Germany with transportation at the port of Sabetta, and then along the Ob and Irtysh rivers to Tobolsk. In 2017, the deliveries have increased almost 3-fold, year-on-year.

ZapSibNeftekhim  involves construction of a facility (including respective off-sites) near Tobolsk to carry out deep hydrocarbon processing into polyolefins. The project's design capacity is 2 mtpa. The facility will incorporate a steam cracker with a capacity of 1.5 mtpa of ethylene (process licensed by Linde AG, Germany), 500 ktpa of propylene and 240 ktpa of high-margin by-products (butadiene, 1-butene, MTBE and pyrolysis gasoline); two four-line units to produce various grades of polyethylene with a total capacity of 1.5 mtpa (process licensed by INEOS, UK); a polypropylene unit of 500 ktpa (process licensed by LyondellBasell, Netherlands).

ZapSibNeftekhim is a part of the Tobolsk production site comprising Tobolsk-Neftekhim and Tobolsk-Polymer, plants already on stream.

The feedstock (8 mtpa of NGL) is to come through the Yuzhny Balyk – Tobolsk pipeline. It will flow directly into a distillation deethaniser which ensures separation of constituent fractions. Specifically for the project, Tobolsk-Neftekhim's gas fractionation capacity has been significantly expanded, an NGL pipeline between the Purovsky Gas Condensate Processing Plant and Tobolsk-Neftekhim constructed, and throughput of the non-public Denisovka station of the Sverdlov Railway doubled. The project is being run by OOO ZapSibNeftekhim, SIBUR's wholly owned subsidiary.

Materials are supplied to the construction site from 35 regions of Russia. Total value of the contracts with Russian suppliers of equipment and materials exceeds RUB 220 bln.
