Baltic Ports Conference 2018 offers a tour of the LNG Terminal in Świnoujście
One of the key items on each of the Baltic Ports Conference editions is the study tour. “Each year we strive to offer our guests the chance to bolster that what they learn from the presentations with a more direct approach. This year we have a real treat for you – an exclusive look into the inner workings of the LNG Terminal in Świnoujście!” say the organizers.
The LNG Terminal in Świnoujście presents a unique chance to directly experience a large-scale LNG operation. The delegates will have the ability to visit both the land and offshore parts of the complex. The tour will be complimented by a detailed technical presentation and security training.
The visit will take place on September 7th, 2018, after the official part of the conference has ended. The delegates will travel to and from the terminal by bus.
Szczecin Shipyard, one of the conference sponsors, continues the 70-year tradition of ship production in post-war Szczecin and even longer achievements of the pre-war shipbuilding sector. Szczecin Shipyard has 45 hectares of production areas located in the north-eastern part of Szczecin. It currently has the character of a compact shipyard which has grouped specialized production centers that implement the entire technological process of shipbuilding.
The shipyard’s infrastructure consists of objects characteristic to the shipbuilding industry, including ramps, quays, workshops with cranes and lifting devices, warehouses and prefabrication and storage spaces. The staff of Szczecin Shipyard coordinates the cooperation of over 65 entities operating in its area employing a total of 2,300 people.
Andrzej Strzeboński, President of the Management Board at the Szczecin Shipyard, offered the following comment:
“Szczecin Shipyard is the industrial heart of the city. There is no competition in Europe in terms of crane potential, which are able to carry sections with a total weight of 4600 tons. Blasting and painting chambers are also a unique facility in Europe, covering an area of a hectare under the roof. The yard has six prefabrication halls with a total area of 10,000 m², which allows the preparation of 230-ton sections in stable conditions. The shipyard achieves and continuously improves its high-level implementation capabilities by conducting a comprehensive and advanced modernization program - in the last two years, the value of infrastructure investments of the company amounted to nearly PLN 20 million. New contracts already implemented at the Shipyard are an auspicious sign for the entire Szczecin economy”.
