    Only one of eight rescue boats at the Far East is supplied with fuel, IA REGNUM reports with reference to the Association of Primorie’s fishing companies. Safety of fishermen is at risk in autumn-winter period since rescue fleet has no funds enough for fuel. Only one rescue boat  – the Sibirskij vessel – is supplied with fuel today. It will work in the fishing district of the Bering Sea, while the areas of the Sea of Japan, Northern Kuril and the Sea of Okhotsk have no rescue fleet. Autumn-winter period is considered to be the most difficult for navigation. Fishing vessels work in the ices under any weather conditions. Rescue fleet is necessary not only for emergency response. Its vessels may serve as tugboats, their crews also include divers. Part of such fleet belongs to ice-breaking type. Seven vessels have no fuel today. They are not able to perform their direct task or to keep watch in the ports, the press center reported.

    Association of Primorie’s fishing companies asked Federal Fishing Agency and the Ministry of Agriculture to investigate and improve the situation. The issue of additional allocations for fuel has not been solved yet – 45 million rubles are needed in total. In 2005 over 200 fishing vessels worked in the Sea of Okhotsk area, including large and medium vessels as well as floating bases. The crew of a medium vessel consists of thirty people, large – about one hundred. As for floating base, its crew includes over 2 hundred people.
