  Литва и Латвия подписали меморандум о точке пересечения литовско-латвийской границы железнодорожной колеей Rail Baltica

  Министр коммуникаций и транспорта Литвы Альгирдас Буткявичюс (Algirdas Butkevicius) и министр путей сообщений Латвии Айнарс Шлесерс (Ainars Slesers) подписали сегодня в Риге меморандум о точке пересечения литовско-латвийской границы железнодорожной колеей Rail Baltica и установлении отрезка пересечения границы. Как пишет “РЖД-Партнер”, об этом говорится в сообщении литовского Минтранса.  Точка пересечения границы определена между литовским населенным пунктом Йонишкис (Joniskis) и латвийским Мейтене (Meitene). Приграничным участком Rail Baltica станет перегон между литовским Шяуляем и латвийской Елгавой.

  Аналогичный договор о точке перенесения границы скоростной магистралью Rail Baltica Латвия планирует подписать с Эстонией. Министры транспорта и связи Литвы и Польши подписали подобный документ 9 марта текущего года. По словам Буткявичюса, стороны еще должны согласовать технические параметры железнодорожного пути, сроки реализации проекта, обсудить процедуры обмена информацией, а также другие вопросы.

  Министры двух стран договорились, что на первом этапе реализации проекта Rail Baltica будет модернизирована имеющаяся инфраструктура на отрезке Каунас-Рига. Для дальнейшей реализации проекта предполагается провести более подробные исследования. На реализацию первого этапа проекта Литва намерена выделить 500 млн литов (более €144,8 млн). Кроме того, как сообщило литовское транспортное ведомство, по вопросу финансирования первого этапа реализации проекта его участники намерены обратиться к Евросоюзу. Координатор проекта Rail Baltica Павелас Теличка (Pavelas Telicka) ранее сообщал, что в целом строительные работы в рамках Rail Baltica могут занять от 4,5 до 9,5 лет.
  Проект Rail Baltica предусматривает соединение скоростной железнодорожной линией Варшавы, Каунаса, Риги, Таллина и Хельсинки. По мнению специалистов, экспресс-линия Rail Baltica обеспечит более эффективную интеграцию стран Балтии в Европу. Rail Baltica является одним из приоритетных проектов Евросоюза.
