Valenciaport throughput up 8.33% to 63.46 mln tonnes in Jan-Sept 2021

Valenciaport’s import/export traffic leapt again in September with growth more than double digits, according to the company's release.

Specifically, full unloading containers -import- increased by 42.29% and full loading containers -export- by 17.22%.

This trend is also maintained in the year-on-year (October 2020 to September 2021). Cargo TEUs exceed one million containers and increase by 17.85% and unloading TEUs by 16.18%.

Between January and September, more than 63.46 million tonnes of goods and 4,2178,112 containers were moved through Valenciaport’s docks, 8.33% and 6.65% respectively more than in the same period in 2020.

In the first nine months of the year, export containers also grew by 19.92% and import containers by 18.63%.

During the first nine months of the year, ro-ro traffic (15.82%), automobiles (1.1%) and passengers (21.11%) increased.

China remains the leading trading partner with 461,201 full TEUs moved between January and September, 20.63% more than in 2020.

All sectors recorded positive export/import figures. The sales abroad of containerised goods of construction materials stand.

Full container traffic dedicated to unloading -import- has grown by 42.29% in the month of September and cargo -export- has grown by 17.22% according to data from the Valencia Port Authority (PAV) Statistical Bulletin. During this time, import TEUs – or 6.1-metre container equivalent units – amounted to 810,735, 16.18% more than in October 2019-September 2020.

This volume of loading and unloading represents 40% of the total number of import/export containers that entered or left the Spanish port system up to September and confirms Valenciaport as a strategic ally of the business fabric of its area of influence. An upward dynamic that shows the importance of Valenciaport’s services and connectivity, which is also reflected in the accumulated figures for the year.
