  Грузооборот порта Восточный в январе-апреле 2008 года возрос на 3,1% по сравнению с аналогичным периодом прошлого года и составил 6806,5 тыс. тонн. Об этом ИАА "ПортНьюс" сообщили в Восточном филиале ФГУП "Росморпорт". За отчетный период перевалка сухогрузов составила 6714,8 тыс. тонн (+2,6% по сравнению с январем-апрелем 2007 года). В структуре сухогрузов навалочных и насыпных грузов было обработано 5444,3 тыс. тонн (+0,8%). В том числе перевалка каменного угля составила 5104,5 тыс. тонн (+0,7%), минеральных удобрений – 324,7 тыс. тонн (+3,5%), леса – 59,9 тыс. тонн, что в 2,4 раза ниже показателей января-апреля 2007 года. Генеральных грузов за четыре месяца было обработано 68,4 тыс. тонн, что в 6,4 раза больше, чем в январе-апреле 2007 года. В том числе металлолома обработано 50,4 тыс. тонн, что в 7,5 раза выше итогов четырех месяцев прошлого года. Контейнерооборот порта составил 131 337 TEU (+15,3%). В январе-апреле портом было обработано 91,7 тыс. тонн нефтепродуктов (+64,9%).

  Порт Восточный самый глубоководный порт России на Дальнем Востоке. Он расположен в Приморском крае на побережье Японского моря в 20 километрах от конечной точки Транссибирской магистрали - города Находка. Навигация в порту длится круглый год. Порт принимает к обработке суда с осадкой до 15,5 метров, длиной до 280 метров и шириной до 40 метров. В порту эксплуатируются 16 грузовых, несколько вспомогательных причалов и хозяйственный пирс. Причалы входят в состав терминалов по перевалке угля, контейнеров, удобрений, метанола, лесных, навалочных и генеральных грузов.
