  Объем железнодорожных перевозок внешнеторговых грузов в направлении российских портов возрос в 1,4 раза к уровню 2003 года. Об этом заявил старший вице-президент ОАО "Российские железные дороги" (РЖД) Борис Лапидус на международной конференции «Взаимодействие железнодорожного и морского транспорта в Балтийском регионе», сообщает "РЖД-Партнер".

  По прогнозным оценкам такая тенденция сохранится в среднесрочной перспективе, и к 2020 году общий объем перевозок внешнеторговых грузов возрастет в 1,6 раза к уровню 2008 года.

  «По итогам 2008 года порты Северо-Западного региона переработали 83,3 млн тонн грузов. Причем основные объемы перевозок пришлись на порты Большого Санкт-Петербурга, Мурманск, а также порты Калининградской области», - сказал Лапидус.

  По оценкам экспертов, к 2020 году объемы перевозок внешнеторговых грузов железнодорожным транспортом в направлении портов Северо-Западного региона возрастут в три раза и составят порядка 250 млн тонн в год.

  Старший вице-президент ОАО «РЖД» также отметил, что формирование современной и развитой транспортной инфраструктуры в Балтийском регионе является важной основой для дальнейшего социально-экономического развития в послекризисный период. В соответствии со Стратегией развития железнодорожного транспорта в Российской Федерации уже до 2012 года планируется построить также 35 - 40 опорных логистических центров, расположенных в крупных транспортных узлах, а также местах смены видов транспорта. К 2011 году предполагается строительство универсальных терминально-складских комплексов в Санкт-Петербурге и Калининграде.

  Конференция «Взаимодействие железнодорожного и морского транспорта в Балтийском регионе» организована при поддержке ОАО "Российские железные дороги". В нем принимают участие представители Минтранса РФ, Федеральной службы по тарифам, Немецких железных дорог, морских портов России и Германии, транспортно-логистических компаний стран региона Балтийского моря.
