S. Korea to ship 6,200 tons of fuel oil to N. Korea next week
South Korea will begin shipping 50,000 tons of heavy fuel oil to North Korea next week under a six-party deal which calls for the communist state to take steps to denuclearize in exchange for economic and other rewards, a government official said Thursday.
The decision comes as North Korea is moving to shut down its Yongbyon nuclear complex under the Feb. 13 aid-for-disarmament deal with South Korea, the United States, China, Japan and Russia.
