Novorossijsk Sea Trade Port OJSC started reconstruction of Shesharis oil harbor

Novorossijsk Sea Trade Port OJSC started implementation of investment project on overhul of technological equipment at Sheskharis oil harbor. According to www.yuga.ru referring to Interfax-Jug IA, this information has been provided Igor Vilinov, company’s director general. He reminded that it is one of 9 projects of investment program implementation of which implies investment of 700 million dollars before 2010 which will ensure cargo turnover at 110 million tons (in 2005 the port handled 80 million tons of cargo). According to Vilinov, reconstruction of Sheskharis will take three stages. At the first one it is planned to carry out overhaul and reconstruction of all technological equipment. At the second one, platform A is to be built at berth 1, which will enable to accept vessels from both sides of the berth simultaneously. On finalization of the new platform construction it is planned to overhaul platform B, built in 1978 and having been maintained for 28 years without any overhaul.
As Vilinov informed, design estimates of the first stage of reconstruction have been completely prepared by today. In the nearest future it is planned to start replacement of main pipeline that is 900 meters long. Auxiliary works on disassembling of old pipeline have been already done for that purpose. Besides, the design of the second platform at berth 1 has been already prepared and all the permits for construction have been already received. Director general underlined that reconstruction of oil harbor will allow to increase oil transshipment volume till 15 million tons per year (today the harbor’s annual transshipment is 26 million tons of oil). Vilinov also stated, that NSTP has fulfilled the works on the marine part of the project for construction of grain terminal. Newly built berths 23 and 24 are ready to accept vessels.
Delivery of two loading machines is planned for the end of October, while their installation is scheduled to be finalized by the end of year. First shipment of grain is to occur in April 2007, Vilinov said, having noted that several grain traders have already applied for transshipment of 4 million tons of grain in total (terminals capacity is 3.6 million tons per year).  Vinilov informed, that in total there are 9 investment project under implementation at the port. They are being implemented within the framework of the same investment program. This program also implies construction of a complex for transshipment of imported alumina to the amount of 2.5 million tons per year and aluminium to the amount of 1 million tons per year.
As it was earlier reported, in May 2006 Novorossijsk Sea Trade Port OJSC and Krasnodar Region Administration signed investment agreement on development of port infrastructure of Novorossijsk with a total value of at least $700 million. NSTP plans to carry out at least nine investment projects at the territory of the region. One of the largest ones is overhaul of Sheskharis oil harbor, construction of a complex for transshipment of dark oil products and a terminal for transshipment of gas condensate. Besides, the company plans the construction of a grain terminal, the second phase of the complex for transshipment of dry mineral fertilizers and the increase of the terminal’s throughput. Novorossijsk Sea Trade Port OJSC is the largest stevedoring company operating at the territory of Novorossijsk port. Company’s cargo turnover in 2005 amounted to 75 million 207 thou tons.
