    Sea Port of Saint-Petersburg improves social conditions and conveniences for its employees

    The year of 2021, was a period of social changes within Sea Port of Saint-Petersburg JSC (SP SPb). The company organized repair of amenity spaces, upgraded canteens, acquired new tallyman modules and improved the system of providing individual protection means.

    Shower cabins, dressing rooms and WC facilities in the amenity building for dock and warehouse workers were refurbished. They underwent finishing, replacement of pipelines and networks, installation of new sanitary equipment. The central distribution substation and the administrative building were repaired as well.

    In 2021, two renovated canteens welcomed the personnel of production departments. They are equipped with in-house kitchens including hot/meat/pastry shops. SP SPb not only guarantees fresh food and comfortable dining area for its personnel but also covers part of food expenses: RUB 100 per check for food or set lunch.

    One of the key events of SP SPb social life was the acquisition of tallyman modules. By winter, the berths were equipped with electrified units needed for operation of cargo checking personnel (tallymen). Those mobile facilities have a durable metal frame, heat insulated walls, floor and ceiling, insulated glass units, LED fixtures and heater units.

    SP SPb also took into consideration its employees’ demands regarding the purchase of individual protection means (IPM). The company set up a group for on-receipt inspection of IMP quality. Prior to procurement of IPM, all of them are tested by representatives of various subdivisions. IMP are acquired upon their approval. Besides, it is now easier to get workwear and safety footwear with the time window extended.
    Among improvements of social conditions and conveniences for port employees – recreation areas, parking place arrangements, construction of new passenger shelters, purchase of wind-proof cabins for operators of open loaders, etc.

    Ensuring comfortable work environment complying with the current requirements and taking into account the best practices of Russian and foreign companies is among the strategic tasks of SP SPb social policy. It is determined in the framework of the Production System project on permanent improvement of production and business processes of the company.
