EU to ban import of Bulgaria’s meat, milk as of January 2007
The EU plans to impose a ban on the import of meat and milk from most farms of Bulgaria to other EU countries soon after the country joins the EU in January 1, 2007, Itar-Tass reports.
The key reason is that conditions of food processing and manufacturing do not meet the EU standards, the European Commission said on Tuesday.
Earlier, the Russian sanitary services said they would ban the import of dairy and meat products that do not meet national standards and may be tagged as ‘made in EU’ from new EU member-countries – Bulgaria and Romania.
