President of Far Eastern Federal University (FEFU) Nikita Anisimov took part in the first meeting of the Organizing Committee for the preparation and holding of the 5-th Eastern Economic Forum (EEF), which will be held September 4-6, 2019 at FEFU campus on Russky Island, FEFU says in a press release. The organizing committee was held by the Deputy Chairman of the Government of the Russian Federation - Plenipotentiary Representative of the President of the Russian Federation in the Far Eastern Federal District Yury Trutnev.
“This year marks the fifth anniversary of the first Eastern Economic Forum in 2015. It is necessary to pay more attention to its history, to highlight the contribution of the EEF to the development of the Far East, to clearly demonstrate the main achievements, to give impetus to the solution of problematic issues”, said Yury Trutnev.
He stressed that over the past years, EEF has emerged as the main international economic event dedicated to solving the task of developing the Eastern vector of Russian foreign policy, as well as integrating the Far East into the system of economic relations in the Asia-Pacific region.
Advisor to the President of the Russian Federation Anton Kobyakov noted that the efforts of the organizing committee will be directed to positioning EEF as the most authoritative international platform to discuss the regional agenda.
The Minister of the Russian Federation for the Development of the Far East, Alexander Kozlov, proposed to include in the first block of the business program a presentation of the investment potential of the industries with a breakdown by each of the regions. The second block will present sessions on the implementation of 12 national projects in the Far East.
During the 4-th EEF, more than 100 business events were held on current topics of the regional and international agenda. The forum was attended by 6,000 delegates and 1,350 media representatives from 60 foreign countries. President of Russia Vladimir Putin, President of the People's Republic of China Xi Jinping, President of Mongolia Khaltmaagiin Battulga, Prime Minister of the Republic of Korea Lee Nak-yon, Prime Minister of Japan Shinzo Abe visited EEF.
Far Eastern Federal University annually enhances meaningful participation in the forum. At 4-th EEF, a series of agreements were signed with existing and new partners of the university. FEFU also organized a presentation of the first in Russia School of Data Economy, APEC education conference, a high-tech pavilion with a presentation of the best projects of young innovators from the Far East. The Technopark “Russky” and the Center for Scientific and Technical Information on Neurotechnology, Virtual and Augmented Reality Technologies were presented at a separate platform of the EEF exhibition. At the investment site, graduates of the Executive MBA program “Business in Asia” FEFU presented their business projects.
