AADA to lower China, Hong Kong-Australia bunker surcharge

CONTAINER shipping lines participating in the Asia Australia Discussion Agreement (AADA) have announced plans to reduce the bunker surcharge for container shipments originating in China and Hong Kong for delivery to Australia.

The move is intended to reflect the recent decrease in the price of oil in Hong Kong and South Korea, a statement issued on behalf of members said.

As a result, the bunker surcharge level for shipments from China and Hong Kong to ports in Australia will be lowered to US$600 per TEU and $1,200 per FEU for dry and refrigerated containers, with effect from September 26.

AADA members are: ANL Singapore Pte, China Shipping Container Line (HK), Cosco Container Line, Hamburg Sud, Hanjin Shipping, HMM, "K" Line, Maersk Line, MSC, MOL Line, NYK Line, OOCL and Gold Star Line (HK) (ZIM Line).
