Krasnoye Sormovo shipyard (part of United Shipbuilding Corporation) has launched the second vessel of a series of three dredgers of TSHD 1000 design, being built for Rosmorport, today, June 8th, 2016, the shipbuilding company told IAA PortNews.
The vessel is named Kronshlot after the first Kronshtadt fort in the Gulf of Finland.
The event was attended by Rosmorport Executive Director Andrei Lavrishchev, Krasnoye Sormovo Director General Nikolai Zharkov, Head of Nizhny Novgorod Administration Sergei Belov, MNP Group Director General Dmitry Khritin, etc.
Nadezhda Zhikhareva, Deputy Director of Transport Ministry’s Department of State Policy for Maritime and River Transport, took part in the ceremony as godmother of the ship.
Andrei Lavrishchev emphasized that construction of dredging vessels including the Kronshlot is ahead of schedule. He also expressed his confidence in the delivery of all the ships before the end of 2016.
Nikolai Zharkov, in his turn, noted that the dredger’s characteristics meet the customer’s requirements. With their functions, these state-of-the-art vessels will be in demand in our country, he said.
The contract between Rosmorport and Krasnoye Sormovo shipyard was signed in April 2014 with the assistance of MNP Group.
The Sommers named after the island in the eastern part of the Gulf of Finland was launched in January 2016.
The TSHD 1000 was designed by Damen Shipyards Gorinchem and working design documentation was provided by Volga-Caspian Design Bureau (MNP Group).
Vessel particulars: LOA – 62,6 m; Beam – 14 m; Draft – 4,25 m: Hopper capacity – 1000 m3; Deadweight – 1685 tonnes; Trailing pipe diameter 500 mm; Total installed power 3225 kW. The TSHD 1000 series vessels feature outstanding dredging capabilities to dredge to a depth of 20 meters and operate at water temperatures -2 ° C to + 20 ° C.
Class notation: KM(*) Ice1 R1 AUT2 Hopper Dredger.
The shipbuilder plans to deliver all the three TSHDs named Sommers, Kronshlot and Kadosh by the end of 2016.

United Shipbuilding Corporation (USC OJSC) is the largest shipbuilding company in Russia. It was set up in 2007 with 100% federal ownership. The holding comprises 60 companies and organizations (major shipbuilding and shiprepairing companies as well as leading design bureaus). Currently, USC consolidates about 80% of the domestic shipbuilding complex. The Russian market is the main focus of the state corporation though it also exports its products to 20 countries worldwide.
